The hiking tour “Stories of Old Baku and Secrets of the Talysh Mountains” combines cultural heritage, breathtaking landscapes, and the thrill of exploration. Stroll through the narrow streets of Icheri Sheher, experience local art and history, hike through Hirkan National Park, and meet the hospitable people of the mountain villages.

Tour Program:

Day 1. Arrival in Baku / Hotel Check-in  
Upon arrival at Baku International Airport, after passing passport control and customs formalities, guests will be greeted outside the terminal building.
Accommodation at the hotel (Check-in from 14:00).
Free time.
Overnight in Baku.

Day 2. Sightseeing tour in Baku/Old City/Gobustan / Overnight in Lankaran (250 km, 2.5 hours’ drive from Baku)Breakfast at the hotel.
09:00 Departure for a city tour.
The tour begins with a visit to the   Highland Park, located on a hill in the western part of the city — the best spot to enjoy panoramic views of Baku and its bay.
Next, you’ll visit Icherisheher (the Old City)— a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Within its walls are dozens of historical and architectural monuments, including the Palace of the Shirvanshahs, the symbol of Baku — the   Maiden Tower, caravanserais, mosques, and more.
Guests will also have the opportunity to visit the workshop of the famous artist Ali Shamsi, located in the Old City (subject to the artist’s presence).
13:00 Lunch at a national restaurant (extra charge).
14:00 Departure to Gobustan National Historical-Artistic Reserve, located 60 km south of Baku in the Absheron region. Gobustan is famous for its well-preserved rock carvings (petroglyphs), listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. 
Guests will visit the modern interactive museum and the open-air archaeological site itself. The Gobustan rocks bear witness to human life and culture over the course of nearly 15,000 years, from the Upper Paleolithic to the Middle Ages.
18:00-20:00 Transfer to Lankaran city and check-in at the hotel.
Overnight in Lankaran.

Day 3. Hiking to Khanbulan Lake
Distance: 8 km
Difficulty level: Easy
We will set out on a scenic hike through the forests of Hirkan National Park in the Lankaran region, heading toward Lake Khanbulan. After a 6 km forest trail, we’ll reach the lake and continue another 2 km along its picturesque shores.

11:00 Start of the hike to Khanbulan Lake
14:00 Lunch break
15:00 Continuation of the route
17:00 Tea break
18:00 Return to hotel in Lankaran and rest time.

Day 4. Hiking to Sym – The Heart of the Talysh Mountains
Distance: 10 km
Difficulty level: Easy
The village of Sym is home to the ancient Talysh people, known for their hospitality and deep-rooted traditions. The Talysh Mountains are among the most mysterious and picturesque regions of Azerbaijan, and Sym, nestled in their very heart, feels like a place created for those seeking inspiration and peace.
The name “Sym” translates from the Talysh language as “a village located on a rock”, which perfectly describes its unique landscape — houses, cliffs, and ancient trees blend into one magical picture. Walking among mossy stones, centuries-old trees, and remnants of ancient structures, you feel transported to another era — a world of myths and legends.
Local villagers, engaged in beekeeping, farming, and animal husbandry, will greet you with warmth and smiles, leaving lasting memories. The atmosphere of Sym is enchanting — old oaks and moss-covered rocks between the houses seem to whisper stories of centuries past. There is truly a fairy-tale aura in this place.

Day 5. Check-out / Transfer to Airport / Visit to the Eastern Bazaar

Breakfast at the hotel.
Check-out and transfer to Heydar Aliyev International Airport.
Depending on the flight time, guests may visit the Eastern Bazaar, a vibrant local market where you can buy traditional Azerbaijani tea, dried fruits, nuts, and sweets. For late departures, luggage can be stored at the hotel.
